1. Your last names must begin with different letters 
There’s even a rhyme to remember: “To change the name and not the letter is to change for the worst and not the better.” No matter what last name you choose, a custom monogram

2. A marriage ceremony in May is bad luck. Ironic since May is one of the, if not the, most popular wedding months.

3. Be glad you found a spider in your gown Legend has it that finding a spider in your wedding dress is good luck. Tell that to the shrieking bride!
4. Place a sugar cube in your glove A Greek tradition for the bride says placing a sugar cube in her glove will sweeten the marriage.
5. Don’t drop the wedding rings Grab hold of those rings! Evidently, if you drop your wedding band, you’ll be the first one to die in your marriage. That’s a bit too morbid to think about on this glorious day, don’t you think?
6. Don’t wed on a Saturday According to English folklore, Saturday is the unluckiest day to marry and Wednesday is considered the best day. Maybe you should consider a weekday wedding…
7. Put the cake under the pillow One superstition says that if single women place a slice of the groom’s cake under their pillow, they will dream of their future husband. This one seems kind of messy.
8. Bury a bottle of bourbon 
A Southern tradition claims that if you bury a bottle of bourbon one month before your wedding, you’ll avoid stormy skies and sheets of rain on your special day.
9. The third gift giver gets a baby During the wedding shower, the first present the bride opens should be used before all others. The giver of the third bridal gift that’s opened is said to have a baby.
10. Get ready to have the shoe thrown at you Back in the Tudor times, it was customary to throw shoes at the bride and groom. Getting hit meant good luck for the marriage.
11. You can’t see each other before the wedding day 
This superstition came into play when arranged marriages were popular. Chances are, if you saw your future husband or wife, you might change your mind about the wedding.
12. Don’t cross the path of a nun or monk Legend says that if a bride is to see a nun or monk on the way to the wedding, she will be barren and penniless.
13. Beware the knife 
Getting a knife means a broken relationship is to come. If this kitchen essential is on your registry, give the gift giver a penny. This way it’s a purchase, and not a gift.
